Open Wide Our Hearts and Doors Extraordinary Hospitality

In June, John Poitevent, from Parish Catalyst, presented the workshop Open Wide Our Hearts and Doors
to parishioners at Epiphany Parish. 80 members of the parish attended this event. The following highlights are from the afternoon session on Extraordinary Hospitality.
John reminded us that hospitality is a part of every aspect of our parish. It is a part of every one of Epiphany Parish’s ministries. Which means, everyone from Father Neil and Father Jake, to the entire
staff, to those serving on committees, involved in ministries, ushers, lectors, choir members, song leaders, even all of us worshipping; we are all called to the Ministry of Hospitality.
As a member of the Ministry of Hospitality we are all responsible for making those who enter the doors of our church feel welcome, loved, dignified, cared for, and to feel special and feel seen. To do this, John
encourages all parishioners to be attentive to those around you, to be compassionate, and to be positive. Poitevent also reminded us that the church is called to be a place of Extraordinary Hospitality. By creating a welcoming parish environment, we are showing others what God is like. We can all truly change people’s lives through our extraordinary hospitality, introducing them to Christ by helping them feel loved and welcome.
