The following liturgical minister roles are needed for parish funeral liturgies. Training, on-going
formation, and support are provided for funeral liturgical ministers. Funeral Masses are
celebrated at either St. Joseph or Holy Family Churches at 10:30 or 11 AM during the week or
on Saturdays.
Adult Altar Servers
This ministry includes carrying the processional cross, holding the Roman Missal for the priest,
helping to prepare the altar for the Liturgy of the Eucharist, and preparing the censor for
incensing.
Ushers/Hospitality Ministers
Funeral ushers warmly greet people arriving for funerals, answer questions of those visiting, and help create a compassionate atmosphere of hospitality and welcome during funeral Masses. After Mass they make sure all is in good order.
Lectors
When families of the deceased do not have family members or friends able to proclaim the
scripture readings and read the prayers of the faithful, we need parish lectors to serve in this
ministry.
Eucharistic Ministers
When families of the deceased do not have a family members or friends that have been
commissioned as Eucharistic ministers, we need parish Eucharistic ministers to serve in this
ministry.
Accompanists and Cantors/Songleaders
Funeral accompanists and cantor/songleaders are needed to lead those gathered for funerals in song.
Technology/Livestream Funeral Ministry
Often families have members that are not able to be present at funerals and wish for the funeral to be livestreamed. We have the technology available to do this at Holy Family Church. Funeral technology ministers are needed to livestream funeral Masses at Holy Family Church.
Funeral Luncheon Helpers
Funeral luncheons are prepared and served at both St. Joseph and Holy Family Social Halls
following funeral services. People to assist in preparing, serving and clean up after the meals
are needed. We also need people able to prepare salads or desserts at home and deliver these to the church for funeral luncheons.
